Living the '80s brings back the BEST music of the '80s.
Our Story
About Us
Lew Singer started Living the '80s over three years ago. It was his idea to bring the best songs from the '80s that no one performs anymore (except the bands that are still out touring) and give them a new home. There were so many great iconic songs from the '80s that are rarely heard anymore (let alone heard live in public) because they weren't in Billboard's one, two, or three slot in the Top 100. All those great songs now have a home thanks to Living the '80s.
Meet The Band

Lew Singer: Lead Singer/Keyboard
Lew Singer has been playing piano and singing from the ripe old age of eight. He is an accomplished musician in classical and pop music. Lew has produced two CDs of original pop songs. Lew started Chain Reaction (now Majesty of Rock) which is now the premier Journey/Styx tribute band throughout the state of Florida playing roughly seventy shows a year. (Lew recently did five shows with them when their keyboardist underwent surgery). Lew is the proud dad of Dove who is studying fashion at SCAD in Atlanta, Georgia. When Lew is not on the stage, he is Dr. Lewis Singer and you can catch him adjusting practice members at his chiropractic practice in Boynton Beach.
Big John Keryc: Bass
Big John started to play bass at the ripe old age of twelve. He began in the school orchestra and played all through junior high and high school. In the ninth grade he got his first electric bass for Christmas, and has been playing in bands ever since. He was recently in The Katie Perkins band out of CT for six years playing country music and in Street Survivors, a Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band from Rhode Island. He grew up playing Classic rock, Blues, Country, and Southern Rock. Oh, and you might even hear him sing a bit as he has some decent vocal abilities as well!
Juan Mansilla
Juan Mansilla is a composer, conductor, singer, guitar player, and educator. He graduated with a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Arts in vocal performance from Florida Atlantic University and a Master of Music in Composition from Florida International University. Currently, he teaches Music and Sound Production at SouthTech Academy High School and is a sound engineer for many local bands including the Bango Bangos. He is an active composer, arranger, and performer within the local scene in South Florida. In addition to Living the '80s, you can also find Juan playing with Those Two Duo, Those Two and The Others, and the Split Image Band.
Michael "Moose" Pagano: Drums
Michael Pagano began his rhythmic journey at the age of 12, captivated by the pulsating beat of the drums. His passion led him to study at the renowned Drummers Collective under the guidance of Chet Deboe and Kenwood Denard, honing his craft and expanding his musical horizons. A fixture in the vibrant New York City music scene, Michael lent his talent to several cover bands, infusing each performance with energy and groove. In 2016, he relocated to Florida, where he continues to share his love for music. With a versatile skill set, Michael embraced the possibilities of Roland digital drums, integrating technology seamlessly into his performances since 2007. His drumming style is influenced by legends such as Hal Blaine and Billy Cobham, shaping his distinctive sound and dynamic presence on stage.
Andrea Gilbert: Sax, Flute, Vocals, Keyboards, Percussion
Andrea grew up in Southern California, started saxophone at age ten, piano at seven, and humming recognizable tunes as an infant. She has a Master’s Degree in Classical Saxophone from the University of Texas and is very happy all her teachers along the way told her to also play clarinet and flute, keep up the keyboard skills, and get comfortable singing. After moving to Florida, she eventually spent many years playing in theatre pit orchestras around South Florida, where she met her Stage Manager husband Carl. Andrea is thrilled to be putting all those skills to work with a group of musicians who love the great ‘80s music and always bring their passion for music to every show.
Lana Wise, Sound Engineering
Born and raised in NJ, Lana was immersed in music from the very beginning. She was always in an orchestra or a choir and taught herself guitar at a young age. Lana was an All-State vocalist throughout high school and has a BA in Music & Sound Recording from the University of New Haven. In college, she taught herself saxophone and tried to have as many different and diverse musical experiences as possible. She even has photography credits in the Average White Band’s album “Times Squared.” A huge fan of blues, jazz, and funk, Lana loves bringing her unique and varied influences into her performances. You can find her playing with The Bango Bango’s, Those Two and The Others, and Split Image, or behind the board running sound for numerous local bands across South Florida.
